The Colorado Trail Solo Journey

The Colorado Trail, a winding, beautiful, exhausting, trail that runs approximately 500 miles through the backcountry of Colorado, is an iconic departure point for those that hear the call to adventure. It challenges individuals to act or remain stationary. And it can introduce immediate significant choices whose outcome may play out over a succession of minutes or days.

Such is the call to action that our colleague, Elaine Mahoney, surely experienced as she considered her adventure to solo hike the Colorado Trail. For much of her adult life, Elaine has hiked, played tennis, hiked for photography, and live life filled with outdoor activities. She spends many weekends hiking for the perfect flower shot while camping out in her hammock. For the past year, Elaine has been following her own regimen of vegetable-based eating and daily exercise that would, and has, put those younger than her to shame. At a good bit +60, Elaine’s physical and mental fitness will provide her with the resources and know-how needed for this adventure.

We’re awaiting another update. We would love to hear about your adventures too. Please feel free to send us your stories. Until then #getoutside
